Our ingredients
To make our food, 10.6 kg of meat is dried for a 12 kg bag, making it easier to process into our kibble. With the right amount of vegetables, fruits, and herbs, Yourdog is a healthy, nutritious choice for your dog.
Buffalo
At Yourdog, we use meat from free-range and grass-fed buffalo. Buffalo meat is known for its creamy, fresh taste and rich color and is packed with vitamins and minerals. With lower cholesterol and fat content and fewer calories, this tender meat is full of health benefits.
Poultry
At Yourdog, we use duck, chicken, and turkey, which together provide a delicious taste and aroma to the kibble. The highly digestible proteins in poultry contribute to good muscle building and are rich in vitamins and minerals.
Vegetables
To provide the dog with extra valuable nutrients, super-healthy vegetables have been added to our food. Thus, vegetables are not only nutritious but also have other healthy properties. The crude fiber in vegetables is good for the intestines and can, among other things, contribute to digestion.
Fruit
We add a unique combination of fruits to Yourdog, ensuring the dog receives all essential, natural antioxidants. Fruit can be good for the dog's immune system, but it can also contribute to fresh breath or maintaining healthy digestion. These natural ingredients promote the dog's health.
Herbs
The healthy herbs that enrich our food come from plants in Europe. The use of herbs, roots, flowers, plants, and algae, among others, dates back thousands of years. These ingredients support the natural processes in the dog's body, such as digestion. Every ingredient we add to our dog food is carefully selected for its positive properties. Depending on the dog's size, breed, or breed group, certain ingredients are given extra attention. Breed-specific complaints can be alleviated by using herbs, roots, flowers, and plants.
Frisian Water Dog specific vegetables, herbs, and fruits
We have carefully researched the breed characteristics of the Frisian Water Dog. We also researched the characteristics of the FCI breed section and the FCI breed group to which the Frisian Water Dog belongs. Based on this research, and in consultation with leading Dutch nutritionists, ingredients have been selected that optimally benefit the health and well-being of the Frisian Water Dog.
Marigold
The marigold (calendula) is a plant that, like goldenrod, belongs to the daisy family. Calendula is a cultivated flower; it has been used for its diverse medicinal properties for many years. The original calendula species probably grew in Asia and Eastern Europe, but this field marigold is now rarely found in the wild. Marigold is also an edible plant for humans and is rich in nutrients.
Much information can be found about the positive effects of calendula. Calendula can be added to our dog food because it could make a positive contribution to preventing breed-specific complaints related to the skin, mouth, throat, digestion, eyes, and feet. It is especially good for skin and mucous membrane recovery, has anti-inflammatory properties, and has a regenerating effect. It can also prevent cramps during the digestive process.
Calendula is primarily used as an external care product for things like scrapes or skin problems. But it can also be used internally due to its regenerating properties.
Yucca
This plant grows in the deserts of the southwestern United States and northern Mexico. The roots of the yucca have been used for centuries by Native Americans in these areas as a medicine for rheumatism and arthritis. It reduces pain and inflammation in the joints.
Yucca can be added to our dog food because it could make a positive contribution to preventing breed-specific complaints related to rheumatism, arthritis, osteoarthritis, the intestines, and the heart. Yucca can also reduce the strong odor of feces and eliminate foul-smelling flatulence.
Carrot
The carrot as we know it today, or the orange carrot, is the result of many years of cross-breeding. The first white carrots originally came from Iran and were brought to the Netherlands by the VOC in the 17th century.
Carrots are an important source of vitamins and fiber. For example, carrots contain retinol (vitamin A1) and beta-carotene, which is converted into vitamin A in the body. This is important for the formation of capillaries and the health of all cells. The fiber in a carrot contributes to the dog's digestion. Additionally, carrots are low in calories and good for coat and skin.
At Yourdog, we add carrots to dog food because they can make a positive contribution to preventing breed-specific complaints related to the dog's coat and skin. But also for promoting good vision and healthy digestion.

Transition advice
If you are switching to Yourdog from another food brand, we recommend following these steps. For the first step, feed 25% Yourdog and 75% of the old dog food. The dog can get used to this for two days. Then feed 50% Yourdog and 50% of the old dog food. It is important that you let the dog get used to this for another two or three days. After that, mix 75% Yourdog and 25% of the old dog food. The dog is now almost completely switched to Yourdog. Do this for 2 days. After this, you can start feeding 100% Yourdog Frisian Water Dog food at your own discretion.
Storage advice
After opening the Yourdog package, the food is exposed to oxygen, moisture, and light, which can affect its shelf life and taste. Therefore, it is important to store the food properly after opening the bag, preferably in an airtight storage container or bin in a dry, cool, and dark place. It is best not to put the food loosely in the bin, but to place it with the entire bag, which you seal as well as possible, into the bin.
