Our Ingredients
To make our food, 10.6 kg of meat is dried for a 12 kg bag, making it easier to process into our kibble. With the right amount of vegetables, fruit, and herbs, Yourdog is a healthy, nutritious choice for your dog.
Buffalo
At Yourdog, we use meat from free-range, grass-fed buffalo. Buffalo meat is known for its creamy, fresh taste and rich colour, and it's packed with vitamins and minerals. With lower cholesterol, fat, and fewer calories, this tender meat is full of health benefits.
Poultry
At Yourdog, we use duck, chicken, and turkey, which together create a delicious taste and aroma in the kibble. The highly digestible proteins in the poultry ensure good muscle development and are rich in vitamins and minerals.
Vegetables
To provide dogs with extra valuable nutrients, super-healthy vegetables are added to our food. Vegetables are not only nutritious but also have other healthy properties. The crude fibre in vegetables is good for the intestines and can contribute to digestion, among other things.

The healthy herbs that enrich our food come from plants in Europe. The use of herbs, roots, flowers, plants, and algae, among other things, dates back thousands of years. These ingredients support the natural processes in a dog's body, such as digestion. Every ingredient we add to our dog food is carefully selected for its positive properties. Depending on the dog's size, breed, or breed group, certain ingredients are given extra attention. Breed-specific complaints can be alleviated by using herbs, roots, flowers, and plants.
Halden Hound-specific Vegetables, Herbs, and Fruits
We have carefully researched the breed characteristics of the Halden Hound. We have also investigated the characteristics of the FCI breed section and the FCI breed group to which the Halden Hound belongs. From these studies, in consultation with leading Dutch nutritionists, ingredients have been selected that optimally benefit the health and well-being of the Halden Hound.
Basil
Basil is a genus from the mint family. The name comes from Ancient Greek, where 'basileus' means king, hence its alternative name, 'royal herb'. It originally occurs between Central Africa and Southeast Asia.
According to traditional medicine, basil was used as a treatment for arthritis, bronchitis, colds, stomach ulcers, heart diseases, and abdominal pain, among others. Research has shown that basil can have strong antioxidant, antiviral, and antimicrobial properties. In addition, basil can promote digestion, aid in the removal of waste products, and may have antispasmodic and calming effects on dogs.
Blueberry
Blueberries belong to the heather family of plants and primarily grow in open forests in the Northern Hemisphere. The plant has been used for a long time in traditional European medicine and is known for its positive effects on gastrointestinal diseases and diabetes.
Blueberries can be added to our dog food because they are rich in antioxidants, which protect the body against free radicals. In addition, they contain good fibre for digestion, and the berries are rich in vitamins C and K. They could support the immune system and contribute to the dog's overall health.
Cranberry
The cranberry is a plant from the heather family. In the Netherlands, this plant is mainly found on the Wadden Islands and is very rare in the rest of the country. Originally from North America, it is believed to have first arrived in the Netherlands around 1845.
Cranberries contain a unique blend of nutrients that can provide a powerful health boost for dogs. The berries are rich in minerals such as potassium, which ensures a healthy level of vital fluids in the body. These berries are also full of vitamins A, B, and C, and antioxidants to support the immune system. Vitamin C makes the urine more acidic, which makes the bladder environment less attractive to bacteria. The addition of cranberry can also have pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory effects. The healthy fibres in cranberries have a beneficial effect on digestion and provide a longer feeling of fullness.
Cranberry is added to our dog food because it could contribute positively to preventing breed-specific complaints related to, among other things, digestion, skin, joints, bones, and nerve functions.
Puppy, Adult, or Senior?
To help you make the right choice between our Halden Hound dog food variants, you can use the following guidelines. If your Halden Hound is younger than 11 months, choose the Puppy variant. For a Halden Hound older than 7 years, we recommend Yourdog Halden Hound Senior. If your dog is older than 11 months and younger than 7 years, you can choose the Adult variant.

If your Halden Hound doesn't seem to like their Yourdog dog food, please contact us. We will help you analyse the problems. If we cannot resolve it together, we will refund your purchase amount.

Transition Advice
If you are switching to Yourdog from another food brand, we recommend following these steps. For the first step, feed 25% Yourdog and 75% of the old dog food. The dog can get used to this for two days. Then, feed 50% Yourdog and 50% of the old dog food. It is important that you let the dog get used to this for another two or three days. After that, mix 75% Yourdog and 25% of the old dog food. The dog is now almost completely switched to Yourdog. Do this for 2 days. At your discretion, you can then start feeding 100% Yourdog Halden Hound dog food.
Storage Advice
After opening Yourdog packaging, the food is exposed to oxygen, moisture, and light, which can affect its shelf life and taste. Therefore, it is important to store the food properly after opening the bag, preferably in an airtight container or bin in a dry, cool, and dark place. It is best not to pour the food loosely into the bin, but to place the entire bag, which you re-seal as best as possible, into the bin.
