Our Ingredients

For our feed, 10.6 kg of meat is dried for a 12 kg bag, making it easier to process into our kibble. With the right amount of vegetables, fruits, and herbs, Yourdog is a healthy, nutritious choice for your dog.

Buffalo

At Yourdog, we use meat from free-range and grass-fed buffalo. Buffalo meat is known for its creamy, fresh taste and rich color, and is packed with vitamins and minerals. With lower cholesterol and fat content, and fewer calories, this tender meat is full of health benefits.

Poultry

At Yourdog, we use duck, chicken, and turkey, which together provide a delicious taste and aroma to the kibble. The highly digestible proteins in poultry contribute to good muscle development and are rich in vitamins and minerals.

Vegetables

These ingredients support the natural processes in a dog's body, such as digestion. Every ingredient we add to our dog food is carefully selected for its positive properties. Depending on the size of the dog, the breed, or the breed group, certain ingredients are highlighted. Breed-specific complaints can be reduced by using herbs, roots, flowers, and plants.

Canaan Dog-specific vegetables, herbs, and fruits

We have carefully researched the breed characteristics of the Canaan Dog. We also investigated the characteristics of the FCI breed section and the FCI breed group to which the Canaan Dog belongs. Based on these studies, and in consultation with leading Dutch nutritionists, ingredients have been selected that optimally benefit the health and well-being of the Canaan Dog.

Fennel

Fennel is a plant from the carrot family (Apiaceae) and is recognizable by its aniseed flavor. The thread-like branches of its leaves are often used as a herb, and its seeds as a spice. These seeds have been known for centuries for their medicinal properties.

Like many herbs and seeds, fennel is rich in various vitamins and minerals. It contains a lot of vitamin A and C, and the minerals iron and potassium.

Fennel can be added to our dog food because it can support digestion and counteract bloating in the stomach and intestines. It can contribute to a healthy cardiovascular system and may have a positive effect on joint problems. Fennel is also said to promote fresh breath.

Cranberry

The cranberry is a plant from the heather family. In the Netherlands, this plant is mainly found on the Wadden Islands and is very rare in the rest of the country. Originally from North America, it is believed to have first arrived in the Netherlands around 1845.

Cranberries contain a unique mix of nutrients that can provide a powerful health boost to dogs. The berries are rich in minerals such as potassium, which ensures healthy levels of vital fluids in the body. These berries are also packed with vitamins A, B, and C, and antioxidants to support the immune system. Vitamin C makes the urine more acidic, which makes the bladder environment less attractive for bacteria. The addition of cranberry can also have pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory effects. The tomato is part of the nightshade family and comes from the tomato plant, originally from Mesoamerica. Small varieties were cultivated in Mesoamerica by the Aztecs and Mayans. In 1893, it was decided in America that the fruit should be considered a vegetable.

At Yourdog, we use tomatoes at a culinary level, treating them as a vegetable.

Tomatoes are rich in nutrients, low in calories, and have a high soluble fiber content that aids digestion. Tomatoes also contain lycopene, to which they owe their red color. The redder a tomato is, the more lycopene it contains. Besides giving a tomato its red color, it is also known as a powerful antioxidant. Research has shown that lycopene can, among other things, protect against cancer and help with cardiovascular diseases. In addition, tomatoes contain a lot of vitamin C and vitamin A- and B-complexes, which can contribute to healthy skin and an improved immune system.

Tomato is added to our dog food because it could make a positive contribution to preventing breed-specific complaints related to digestion, skin, vision, and cardiovascular diseases. In addition, it can have a general purifying effect on the body.

Puppy, Adult, or Senior?

To help you choose the right variant of our Canaan Dog food, you can use the following guidelines. If your Canaan Dog is younger than 11 months, choose the Puppy variant. For a Canaan Dog older than 7 years, we recommend Yourdog Canaan Dog Senior. If your dog is older than 11 months and younger than 7 years, you can choose the Adult variant.

We are convinced of the quality of our food. That's why we offer a palatability guarantee on all Yourdog packaging. If your Canaan Dog doesn't seem to like their Yourdog dog food, please contact us. We will help you analyze the issues. If we can't resolve it together, we will refund your purchase amount.

Feeding Advice

Transition Advice

If you are switching to Yourdog from another brand of food, we recommend following these steps. For the first step, feed 25% Yourdog and 75% of the old dog food. The dog can get used to this for two days. Then feed 50% Yourdog and 50% of the old dog food. It is important that you let the dog get used to this for another two or three days. After that, mix 75% Yourdog and 25% of the old dog food. The dog is now almost completely switched to Yourdog. Do this for 2 days. After that, you can, at your discretion, start feeding 100% Yourdog Canaan Dog food.

Storage Advice

After opening the Yourdog packaging, the food is exposed to oxygen, moisture, and light, which can affect its shelf life and taste. Therefore, it is important to store the food properly after opening the bag, preferably in an airtight storage container or bin in a dry, cool, and dark place. It is best not to put the food loosely in the bin, but to place the entire bag, properly sealed, inside the bin.
