Our ingredients

To produce our food, 10.6 kg of meat is dried for a 12 kg bag, making it easier to process into kibble. With the right amount of vegetables, fruits, and herbs, Yourdog is a healthy, nutritious choice for dogs.

Buffalo

At Yourdog, we use meat from free-range and grass-fed buffaloes. Buffalo meat is known for its creamy, fresh taste and rich color, and it's packed with vitamins and minerals. With lower cholesterol and fat content, and fewer calories, this tender meat is bursting with health benefits.

Poultry

At Yourdog, we use duck, chicken, and turkey, which together provide a delicious taste and aroma to the kibble. The highly digestible proteins in poultry ensure good muscle development and are rich in vitamins and minerals.

Vegetables

To provide dogs with extra valuable nutrients, super healthy vegetables are added to our food. Not only are vegetables nutritious, but they also have other healthy properties. The crude fiber in vegetables is good for the intestines and can contribute to digestion, among other things.

Herbs

The healthy herbs that enrich our food come from plants in Europe. The use of herbs, roots, flowers, plants, and seaweed, among others, dates back thousands of years. These ingredients support the natural processes in a dog's body, such as digestion. Every ingredient we add to our dog food is carefully selected for its positive properties. Depending on the size of the dog, its breed, or breed group, certain ingredients are given extra attention. Breed-specific issues can be alleviated by the use of herbs, roots, flowers, and plants.

Saluki-specific vegetables, herbs, and fruits

We have carefully researched the breed characteristics of the Saluki. We have also researched the characteristics of the FCI breed section and the FCI breed group to which the Saluki belongs. Based on this research, in consultation with leading Dutch nutritionists, ingredients have been selected that optimally benefit the health and well-being of the Saluki.

Marigold

Marigold (calendula) is a plant that, like goldenrod, belongs to the daisy family. Calendula is a cultivated flower; it has been used for its various medicinal properties for many years. The original calendula species probably originated in Asia and Eastern Europe, but this field marigold is now rarely found in the wild. Marigold is also an edible plant for humans and is rich in nutrients.

There is much information available about the positive effects of calendula. Calendula can be added to our dog food as it may positively contribute to preventing breed-specific complaints related to the skin, mouth, throat, digestion, eyes, and feet. It is especially good for skin and mucous membrane recovery, it has anti-inflammatory properties, and it promotes regeneration. It can also prevent cramps during the digestive process.

Calendula is primarily used as an external care product for scratches or skin problems, among other things. But it can also be used internally due to its regenerative properties.

Thyme

Thyme is a genus from the mint family. It includes herbaceous or woody plants with a very aromatic scent. Thyme was used by the Greeks and Romans as a medicinal herb against lung diseases, rheumatism, paralysis, stomach cramps, tumors, headaches, colic, and nervous disorders.

The medicinal properties of thyme are confirmed by its high vitamin K content. Thyme also contains a lot of iron, as well as the minerals calcium and manganese. It also contains the amino acid tryptophan and a significant amount of fiber.

Thyme has anti-inflammatory properties and a powerful antibacterial and antifungal effect. In addition, it stimulates the production of white blood cells and strengthens the immune system. Thyme is rich in antioxidants and effectively combats free radicals.

At Yourdog, we add thyme to our dog food because it can make a positive contribution to preventing breed-specific complaints related to rheumatism, paralysis, stomach, and nerves. Thyme is also a natural antibacterial agent.

Parsley

Parsley is a biennial, hardy, herbaceous plant from the carrot family. Parsley has been used as a medicinal herb for hundreds of years. There are dozens of diseases that parsley combats. According to various sources, it cures diarrhea, anemia, and ear infections, among other things. It is packed with iron, more than spinach, for example. Parsley also contains other minerals such as silicon, as well as vitamins B and C, and carotene.

At Yourdog, we add parsley to dog food because it can make a positive contribution to preventing breed-specific complaints related to blood, heart, and kidneys.

Parsley is a natural source of vitamins C, A, and K. This can contribute to the immune system and eyes, and can support the cardiovascular system and liver. Parsley also has anti-inflammatory properties and can have a diuretic effect, which keeps the dog's bladder free of impurities.

Puppy, adult, or senior?

To help you make the right choice between our Saluki dog food variants, you can use the following guidelines. If your Saluki is younger than 11 months, choose the Puppy variant. For a Saluki older than 7 years, we recommend Yourdog Saluki Senior. If your dog is older than 11 months and younger than 7 years, you can choose the Adult variant.

Palatability guarantee

We are convinced of the quality of our food. That is why we provide a palatability guarantee on all Yourdog packages. If your Saluki doesn't seem to like its Yourdog dog food, please contact us. We will help you analyze the problems. If we cannot resolve it together, you will receive a refund of your purchase amount.

Feeding advice

Transition advice

If you are switching to Yourdog from another feed brand, we advise you to follow the following steps. For the first step, feed 25% Yourdog and 75% of the old dog food. The dog can get used to this for two days. Then, feed 50% Yourdog and 50% of the old dog food. It is important that you let the dog get used to this for another two or three days. After that, mix 75% Yourdog and 25% of the old dog food. The dog is now almost completely switched to Yourdog. Do this for 2 days. At your own discretion, you can then start feeding 100% Yourdog Saluki dog food.

Storage advice

After opening the Yourdog package, the food is exposed to oxygen, moisture, and light, which can affect its shelf life and taste. Therefore, it is important to store the food properly after opening the bag, preferably in an airtight storage container or bin in a dry, cool, and dark place. It is best not to pour the food loosely into the bin, but to place the entire bag, which you seal as best as possible, into the bin.
